Tom Mullen has consistently been at the forefront of assisting lawyers on complex state and federal litigation matters across the United States for over the last twenty-five years. Tom started his career as an entry-level contract paralegal at Proskauer Rose Goetz & Mendelsohn in New York in 1992 and was assigned to multi-forum litigation cases under the umbrella of same or similar facts sparked by the collapse of a third-party fraudulent commodities trading enterprise while defending Ernst & Young against negligence and fraud claims. Before the advent of electronic discovery, Tom managed discovery among several cases in federal court in New York; two cases in federal court in Texas; two cases in federal court in Connecticut; bankruptcy proceedings in Connecticut; one bankruptcy proceeding in New York State Court and third-party discovery throughout the United States and Europe, and wide coverage in the financial press, including a cover story in Forbes Magazine.
Tom eventually went on to work on intellectual property litigation matters at the Hopgood Calimafde Kalil Judlowe firm in New York (which later merged with Morgan Lewis Bockius) as a paralegal on Glaxo Wellcome matters, prosecuting and defending its patent rights over competitors regarding the drug, Zantac. On behalf of Glaxo, he was trial paralegal in Federal Court in both Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Baltimore, Maryland.
For the past twenty years, Tom has honed his skills working on state and federal litigation matters on the West Coast, from Los Angeles to Orange County to San Diego. In the late 90’s, Tom was integral in the paralegal team defense of Merrill Lynch, working on the Orange County Bankruptcy civil actions for Morgan Lewis. He also worked two years in Seattle, Washington, assisting directly on an ITC Section 337 matter for Dorsey & Whitney in 2014. Tom earned a B.A. in political science at the University of California at Irvine, and attended Whitter Law School. Tom remains an active trial paralegal and supports the San Diego IP Law Group by assisting with intellectual property litigation and other litigation matters.
